Before the conference

Monday, June 24 – 15:00-18:00 : registration open for the participants going to Montady Tour. Special visit of Pierresvives building at 3 pm and 4:30 pm

Tuesday, June 25 – 09:00-18:00 : Optional Pre conference tour in Montady (60 km southwest of Montpellier) – see below the details.


Tuesday June 25 – 15 : 00-18:00 – registration of the participants of the conference (for the participants coming this day)


June 26-28 Conference in PierresVives building,
the Archives centre of Herault in Montpellier

The main event is hosted by the Archives organisation of Herault, a wonderful new place for knowledge building and sharing.

Wednesday, June 26

  • Opening ceremony with the president of the Council of Herault Plenary session on water and archives.
  • Parallel sessions (first half day) Special event open to public : Film on Piave river catastrophe and debate with historians

Thursday, June 27

  • Parallel sessions (following)
  • Gala Dinner of the conference with several special events

Friday, June 28

  • Plenary session on History of Irrigation
  • Plenary session on History of Cooperation

June 29 Optional Post conference tour

Tour 1: 8:30 am – 6:30 pm. A travel in 2000 years water history to the museum of Pont du Gard (including visit of the modern scheme of BRL in the region), or to the Herault Valley where old irrigation scheme of Gignac will be presented.



Tour 2 : 8:30 am – 6:30 pm. From Mountains of Cevennes to the Coast of Hearault, the variety of schemes, institutions and conflicts. How to understand the diversity of water users in the Basin of Herault ? Water is a old issue in this region with a mediterranean climate, drought and inondations, interdependance and old history of gouvernance.
